I know this sounds like a very odd title to a blog post, but bear with me. Did I use the right “bear?” Anyway, it was a cool and very windy evening at Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, CO. I was photographing a beautiful young woman. The lighting was great, the temperature was cool and getting cooler. The wind was honestly a pain in the ass. As the shoot progressed, we shot in a few different locations for a different backdrop. Unfortunately, as the light got better, the wind got worse. Towards the end of the shoot, a big gust of wind blew my umbrella inside out (does that make sense?). It was officially broken. After 6 years of service, it ended its photography career on a rocky cliff, bouncing a speedlite upon a beautiful woman. I guess that wasn’t a bad way to go. The ended well. Between my client, my assistant, and I, we were all a bit frozen. My client (Kate) did amazing and her images showed that. I hope to work with her again!
